Description Crew members of the NC-4, first trans-Atlantic flight, 1919. From left to right: LT Elmer F. Stone, U.S. Coast Guard (Pilot); Chief Petty Officer Eugene C. Rhoads, USN; LTJG Walter Hinton, USN (CoPilot); ENS Herbert C. Rodd, USN (Radio Operator); LT James L. Breese, USN (Engineer), LCDR Albert Cushing Read, USN (Aircraft Commander/Navigator). An the very right, Capt. R.H. Jackson was not a crew member of the historic flight.
