Object history
Deutsch: Aus dem Jahr 1550 sind Abdrucke eines Siegels überliefert, das im Schild einen aus dem unteren Schildrand wachsenden großen Rüden ohne Pfoten zeigt. 1258 sind die Grafen von Castell in Rüdenhausen belegt. Als Casteller Lehen kam der Ort an mehrere Adelsfamilien, zuletzt an die Herren von Gnottstadt, die 1533 ausgestorben sind. Das Lehen fiel wieder heim an die Grafen von Castell. Der Ort wird 1597 Sitz einer neuen Linie, der Grafen von Castell-Rüdenhausen. Der Hund steht redend für den Ortsnamen und erinnert zugleich an die Herren von Gnottstadt, die in ihrem Wappen und als Helmzier ebenfalls einen Hund in den Farben Rot und Gold führten. Im Schrifttum des 19. Jahrhunderts fehlt das Wappen. Seit 1747 ist Rüdenhausen Markt. Eine Sage erklärt den Rüden als Hinweis auf die Zucht und Haltung von Rüden im Gemeindegebiet durch die Grafen von Castell.
