Daniel George Edward Hall was the Emeritus Professor of the History of South East Asia in the University of London as well as the Professor of Southeast Asian History at Cornell University. His notable works include A History of South-East Asia, said to "...remain the most important single history of the region, providing encyclopedic coverage of material published up to the time of its 1981 revision".
