Warner was the first president of the Strathcona local of the Territorial Grain Growers' Assocation. The Territorial Grain Growers' Association changed its name in December of 1905 to the Alberta Farmers' Association. Warner was a director of the U.F.A. 1910 - 1912, 1914-1916 and 1921. Warner successfully ran as a Progressive Party of Canada candidate in the 1921 federal election and became the member of parliament for Strathcona, Alberta. Warner was one of ten U.F.A-Progressives who ran in the 1921 election; all of them were elected. The Progressive Party of Canada was part of the farmers' political movement in the 1920s and 1930s. In the 1925 federal election Daniel Webster Warner ran in the new electoral district of Wetaskiwin and was defeated.
