English: 'Torbay Express' emerging from Parson's Tunnel, between Dawlish and Teignmouth.
View NE, towards Exeter, Taunton, Bristol/London; ex-GWR (South Devon) Exeter etc. - Plymuth - Penzance main line. For 2½ miles between Dawlish and Teignmouth the GWR main line runs beside the sea, albeit through several tunnels, accompanied by a footpath beside the sea: here it is evident that people enjoying (or not, see the bloke on the seat) the seaside also had lots of trains to watch. The 'Torbay Express' left Paddington at 12.00 and reached Kingswear at 16.10. Here it is headed by 'Castle' 4-6-0 No. 5079 'Lysander' (built 5/39 as 'Lydford Castle', renamed 11/40, withdrawn 5/60 - earlier than most 'Castles').
