DescriptionDunford Bridge old3 railway station 1735072 99bf7f09.jpg
English: Dunford Bridge Station.
An eastbound mineral empties train, headed by one of the numerous Class O4 2-8-0s that dominated the constant coal and other freight traffic on this LNER main line between Manchester and Sheffield, is pulling away from the station. To the left, work is progressing on the new station and lines to the New Woodhead Tunnel; behind the train are the Contractor's offices; centre left, up the hill behind the railway cottages on the bridge is the large temporary camp housing the tunnel workers.
