Флаг Подосиновского района представляет собой прямоугольное полотнище с соотношением сторон (ширины к длине) 2:3, состоящее из двух горизонтальных полос:

верхняя полоса белого цвета занимает 1/4 (одну четвёртую) ширины полотнища, выщербленная снизу квадратными зубцами голубого цвета со сторонами, равными 1/10 ширины полотнища, зубцы на полотнище начинаются и заканчиваются с голубого цвета;

нижняя полоса голубого цвета занимает 3/4 (три четвёртых) ширины полотнища;

в центре полосы голубого цвета ладья, плывущая к древку, высотой 3/5 ширины полотнища, под парусом белого цвета с выделенными серебристым цветом пятью вёслами и вымпелом на мачте
