Description
English: Personal Flag of the Governor-general of Italian Eastern Africa (AOI) and Viceroy of Ethiopia from 1938 to 1941. Blazonation: ‘The distinguishing flag of Governor General Vice-King consists of a rectangular drape of white silk with a blue border to each corner of which is applied a Lictor's bundle in yellow gold. The flag bears in the centre the Savoy Coat of Arms surmounted by the Crown’. (see Gazzetta Ufficiale, No. 91, 20 April 1938, p. 1514.)
Deutsch: Standarte des Generalgouverneurs von Italienisch-Ostafrika (AOI) und Vizekönigs von Äthiopien von 1938 bis 1941. Blasonierung: „Die Flagge des Generalgouverneurs und Vizekönigs besteht aus einem rechteckigen Tuch aus weißer Seide mit blauem Rand, auf dem an jeder Ecke ein Liktorenbündel in Gelbgold angebracht ist. The color tones used in this flag is the same as used in Mussolinis personal flag, whose colors was defined by the Fascist Italian state (See Ministro dell’Aeronautica, Ufficio di Stato Maggiore (1939): Regolamento sulle Bandiere, le insegne, gli onori, le visite e le precedenze, le riviste e le parate. Rome: Istituto Poligrafico dello Stato, p. 32, Allegato No 2). In reality, however, the Gold color tones was used in many variants, brighter and darker.
