Summary

Description
English: The ground floor plan of St Giles' church in Stoke Poges, illustrates the ages of various parts of the building from 12th century and the names of different parts of the church.

The 'Gallery over' in the Hastings chapel no longer exists. It was erected between 1844 to 1849, according to the vicar, Rev. Hoyle' book on Stoke Poges Church, published in 1920.

The Gallery was removed during restoration work of the Hastings chapel between 1946 to 1948, according to the vicar, Rev. Bryant Bevan book on Stoke Poges Church, published in 1948.

The original illustration is believed to have been used for the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments, Buckinghamshire (South), then published by the HMSO and used by the vicar, Rev. Hoyle in 1920.

N.B.

The plan does not show the full exent of the ground floor in the 21th century because it does not show the vestry, cloisters or vestibule on the north side.
