Ibn Ali died in 2000. This is a photo which appears to have been taken in 1964 as part of the photo session for the album The Max Roach Trio Featuring the Legendary Hasaan. The photos are similar; the album cover photo was taken by Laurence Fink. Ibn Ali slipped into relative obscurity not long after doing this 1964 album; very little is known about his activities from that point. The report of his 2000 death came from The New Grove Dictionary of Jazz.[1] It's doubtful that any free use photos are available.
