English: Tomb of diplomat and politician Sir John Herbert and his brother Sir William Herbert in St John the Baptist church, Cardiff. Their coats of arms are at the top.

Translation of the inscriptions (from an information sheet in the church):

In certain hope of rising again in Christ here sleep two brothers, John and William Herbert, of Swansey, Knights, John the younger, secretary to Queen Elizabeth and King James, on account of his prudence and tried fidelity was sent ambassador to Frederick the Second King of Denmark, and Christian his son, to Sigismund King of Poland, to Henry the Fourth King of the Gauls, to treat.

He took to wife Margaret daughter and heir of William Morgan of Penclawdd, by whom he begat an only daughter Mary, wife of William Doddington of Braemore, Knight, who bore him William, Herbert, Henry, John, and Edward, Mary Christian, Margaret, Catherine, Frances and Ann. Sir John Herbert died 1617 aged 84. Sir William Herbert died August 1609 aged 76.

To best and dearest of husbands his right sorrowful wife in testimony of conjugal faith and love and in memory of his brother, with tears erected this monument.
