Description	This photo of Heriberto Hernandez, taken with his comrades, shortly before his death, shows his youth. It also shows the 13 foot whaler he was helping to staff, when he was mortally wounded. Note: although the Coast Guard lists this as a courtesy photo, it was taken by one of his shipmates, on his ship, and even if the bosun told the seamen to "take five", I personally think a strong argument can be made that they were all "on duty" -- making this a public domain image.

Purpose of use	This image shows how small the small boat Hernandez was in when he was mortally wounded, actually was. Heriberto Hernandez dropped out of high school to join the Coast Guard, and was only twenty when he died. An article about him in his local paper said that although he was only 5' 8" tall, he had a muscular build, which this image supports. The article said he was the first Coast guardman to be killed in Vietnam.
