DescriptionHolocaust memorial in Rome Jewish ghetto.jpg
English: A Holocaust memorial in Rome's Jewish ghetto, Italy. Translation of text in Italian:
On 16 October 1943 the terrible hunt for Jews began,
And two thousand ninety Roman citizens
Were put to a terrible death in the Nazi extermination camps
Where they were joined by six thousand other Italian victims
Of vile racial hatred.
The few who survived the carnage due to many allied people
Call to God for love and peace, forgiveness and hope.
Placed by the Committee to Celebrate the Twentieth Anniversary of the Resistance
25 October 1964
“And they had not even begun to live”
In memory of the babies murdered in Nazi camps
Placed on a common day of remembrance
