Summary
| Description |
English: Holy Trinity parish church, High Street, Stevenage, Hertfordshire, seen from the northwest. The church was built on the site of a pond as a chapel-of-ease for St Nicholas' Church in 1861. The rector at the time was Canon George Blomfield, whose brother was Bishop of London and Lord of the Manor of Stevenage, and granted the land to the church. The architect was AW Blomfield, the Rector's nephew. The church was too small almost as soon as it was built, so in 1881, it was extended to the south. This extension now contains the nave and chancel, while the original part is now the parish room and vestry. |
