English: Houses of The Close: no. 55, and The Hungerford Chantry These two properties to the west of and next to Mompesson House, complete the row of houses on the north side of Choristers' Green. No. 55 on the left is a Grade II listed property that despite its C18 appearance, is in fact a C16 or earlier building that was recased in the C18. No. 54 on the right is The Hungerford Chantry, so called after the original house on the site, assigned as a Chantry by Lord Hungerford on his death in 1459. The present house was built on the site in the mid to late C18, and is Grade II* Listed.
