English: From right to left: 1205 and 1207 Rhode Island Avenue NW were built in 1878 for George W. Spears. 1209 and 1211 Rhode Island Avenue NW were built in 1878 for A.C. Jennings. 1213 and 1215 Rhode Island Avenue NW, built in 1887 and designed by architect George B. Phelps, were also built for Spears. The corner house, 18 Logan Circle NW, was also designed by Phelps and built at the same time for Spears. It is the previous home of author and journalist Ambrose Bierce. 17 Logan Circle NW was built sometime around 1878. All of the buildings are contributing properties to the Logan Circle Historic District and Greater Fourteenth Street Historic District.
