DescriptionHubble Space Telescope Deployment from Shuttle Discovery (27512135784).jpg
The Hubble Space Telescope, still in the grasp of Discovery's Remote Manipulator System (RMS), is backdropped over Earth, which is 332 nautical miles below. In this scene, Hubble has deployed one of its solar array panels but is yet to have extended the second. The photo was captured with a 35-mm camera aimed through an overhead window on aft the flight deck on April 25, 1990.
The NASA website hosts a large number of images from the Soviet/Russian space agency, and other non-American space agencies. These are not necessarily in the public domain.
