In Grönland ist weißer bis gräulicher Chalcedon aus vulkanischen Schichten des Paläozän bekannt, im Gebiet Disko-Nuussuaq in Westgrönland und aus dem Gebiet des Scoresby Sund. Aus Illorsuit ist eine hellblaue Chalcedon-Variante bekannt, die in den vulkanischen Gesteinen entlang der Südküste der Insel entstanden ist. Wegen seiner bläulichen, eisähnlichen Farbe hat es den lokalen Namen Chalcedon Ice-blue. In Nordwestgrönland tritt Calcedon als tennisballgroße Hohlraumfüllungen in vulkanischem Gestein aus der prähistorischen Periode der Erde (älter als 600 Millionen Jahre) auf. Eine sehr charakteristische Calcedon-Variante sind die so genannten "chert pebbles", die an vielen Stellen im östlichen Teil von Disko gesammelt werden können (Larsen & Pedersen, 1990). Sie ähneln in vielerlei Hinsicht der Struktur des Feuersteins, haben aber eine gelbliche bis bräunliche Färbung.
