The inscription is weathered, but reads "In Loving Memory of Ernest Alfred Roberts, Labor Member of the House of Representatives in the Commonwealth Parliament for the Division of Adelaide, Died December 2nd 1913, Aged 45 years." and "A token of esteem and appreciation of his unstinted efforts in the interests of his fellow men." and "He died at his post."
