Summary

Description
English: James Hopper was close friends with novelist Jack London, who is pictured with Hopper below, aboard his boat, the Snark. London is holding one sleeve of an old, battered football sweater and his wife Charmian is holding the other. James Hopper is in the middle. The photo was taken in Oakland in April 1907, as the Londons prepared to embark on their planned round-the-world cruise. London reportedly hoisted his old friend's jersey up the mast and flew it like a flag as the Snark sailed past the Golden Gate and out of San Francisco Bay.
