English: The painting was a gift to The National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design (then: The National Gallery) in 1976 from J. Harder and had inventory number NG.M.03123 that year, ac. to Marie Lødrup Bang cat.no. 1265. There is great uncertainty around the painting, and if it is painted by Dahl at all. As to who the sitter is one does not know, but if it is painted by Johan Christian Dahl, it could be his nephew Carl Blix Dahl, who came to Dresden in 1840 and stayed for five years. |
