Description

Jubilee Memorial, Station Parade, Harrogate, England, erected in 1887 for Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee. It was designed by Arthur Bown, and the statue of Queen Victoria carved by William John Seward Webber. It is listed building no.1315844.

Showing the crowds around the Mayoress Mrs Ellis who is laying the foundation stone for the above monument. The foundation stone is under the A-frame in the centre of the picture. The A-frame was required to hold the pulley and foundation stone, which would be lowered onto the cement after the VIP had ceremonially completed the cementing.
