English: Ex-GE B12/1 4-6-0 at Keith (ex-GN of S) Locomotive Depot.
No. 61504 is one of the original ex-GE B12/1 4-6-0s designed by Holden for the GER, used on the GER for c. 20 years but sent latterly (1931 - 1942) to the Great North of Scotland section of the LNER to take over from the GNoSR 4-4-0s the heavier passenger trains between Aberdeen and Elgin. Standing at Keith GNS Depot between the large water-tank and a great pile of ashes, former LNER No. 8504 has survived into BR ownership: it was built 5/1912, re-boilered as B12/4 in 3/45 and withdrawn in 6/50. In 1947, the Depot had an allocation of 28 engines:- 5 4-6-0, 21 4-4-0 and 2 0-6-0T.
