Summary
| Description | Lot 9609-17: Royal Navy (British) during the First World War. Royal Navy monitor, M29, with a painted bow wave which gave her appearance of steaming faster than she was. Nineteen of these small monitors were constructed during 1915 and all did good work off Gallipoli, the Belgian coast, the Murmansk Coast or Smyrna. M28 and M30 were both sunk by gunfire in the Mediterranean and M27 was blown up near Archangel. Collection was transferred from a British government source in 1920 to the Library of Congress.
