Summary

Description
English: Silver penny minted in London during the reign of Ludeca, struck 825–827 AD. The obverse features a diademed bust facing right with LVDICA REX MER around. The reverse inscription reads +LVN / DONIA / CIVIT (City of London). This coin, unearthed in 2016, is one of only ten attributed to Ludeca and the only one known to have been struck in London. This is likely the first silver penny struck with the mint town name of London.
Date 825–827
