Hewas for many years one of the most noted men of the day, and con-spicuous for his liberal tendencies in politics. It has been thoughtthat, as the head of that party in the middle of the last century, hecontributed in a great degree to the production of that sentiment inthe public mind, in this vicinity, which gradually brought about theRevolutionary war. 1684. Vincent Delamontagnie to Arrantje Jans. Mr. D. wasnotable from the extraordinary age to which he lived, viz., one hun-dred and sixteen years.
