Summary

Artist
Agostino Veneziano
Description

This engraving is thought to be by Agostino veneziano.[1]

It is thought that this engraving may have been copied from "Modi drawings"[2] that were made by Giulio Romano.[2] "A set of offsets from Giulio's Modi drawings might have remained.... after Giulio's 1524 departure... "[2] Agostino might have gained access to these "Modi drawings" and copied this engraving from them.[2]

This engraving is thought to come from a single replacement set of I modi engravings.[1]

I modi was a series of engravings of sexual scenes that were engraved around 1524 to 1527 by Marcantonio Raimondi.[1] The engravings by Marcantonio are thought to be a collaboration with Giulio Romano.[3]

This engraving is is dated to around 1530.[3]
