  3. This is an image that is the subject of analysis, commentary and criticism in the article.

Note that the NYT states that this was an "artfully composed" image and she was selected for her breakout video role because "She looked smart and stunningly beautiful" in the photo to the video director. This image is of critical importance to Ratajkowski's career and there are elements of critical commentary such as these that the reader must be able to see the image to understand.
