Summary

Description
English: Matilda and Holon Godfrey, who died 1879 and 1899, respectively. They ran the Godfrey Ranch, renamed Fort Wicked, after an attack by Lakota and Cheyenne warriors in 1865 in retribution for the Sandy Creek Massacre. Holon Godfrey was named "Old Wicked" for his ability to withstand the attack. The ranch / fort was located in Logan County, Colorado, near the town of Merino.
