Summary

Description
English: The Honourable Henry Medley, Vice Admiral of the Blue, and Commander in Chief of the Mediterranean, who died at Savona Aug 5th 1747.

Inscribed: He was son to Robert Medley Esq, by Dorothy daughter to William Grimston of Grimston Garth Esq. He married Ann, daughter and heiress to Nathaniel Goche merchant in Hull by Dorothy sister to Thomas Grimston Esq Grandson to the Abovenamed William and had issue by her one daughter who died young.

Arms above: Sable, two bars gemelles argent on a chief of the last three mullets of the first (Medley of Warwickshire) (Burke, Sir Bernard, The General Armory, London, 1884, p.676) with inescutcheon of pretence Azure, three boars argent eared tusked and hoofed or (Gooche/Goche/Goodge of Alvingham in Lincolnshire; as borne by Dr Barnaby Gooche, Master of Magdalen College, Cambridge).
