Summary

Description

Mother support group leader Gladys Nagilai stands among her tomato crop in a greenhouse in Lodwar, northern Kenya. There are 13 mothers in her group. They meet once a month to learn from each other about infant and child nutrition. During their meetings, nutritionists also teach them about infant and child feeding.

The support group members actively train other mothers in the community about feeding and nutrition. The greenhouse farming project – which is supported by UNICEF and the IOM with funding from the UK – is underway as a means of improving their household food security. Some of the crops are sold and what’s left over is used by the mothers.
