Summary

Description Photograph of the newly created Chippawa Cut in the Welland River/Canal, which served to move its mouth southward and out of the dangerous currents of the Upper Rapids. The cut would stay in use for 6 years before the Welland Canal was rerouted to Port Colborne in 1833. The old Niagara Road is visible in the foreground
