Summary
| Description |
English: This is the northernmost "navigable" point on the remains of the Central Ontario Railway, located at the corner of McKenzie Lake Road (on the right) and McKenzie Road North (just behind the photographer). The line is continuous from this point all the way to Glen Ross, over 150 km to the south, and then almost continuous to just outside of Picton, about 200 km away. This section is not officially maintained for trail use, but is nevertheless heavily used and also kept clear of bush to provide service access to the power lines running down the western (right) side of the trail. The last few meters closest to the photographer, the curved portion that starts at the last pole, are not part of the original road bed and were constructed more recently to provide access. Only 2.4 km of the COR lay north of this point, but it no longer has a roadway. |
