Artigo: A Centenária locomotiva n. 1 EF Santa Catarina

Fabricada em março de 1908 pela Orenstein & Koppel de Berlim Alemanha, com rodagem 0-6-0T a atual locomotiva n. 1 da EFSC está exposta em praça pública no jardim da Prefeitura de Blumenau. Ela foi a primeira a apitar ao longo do Vale do Itajaí, transportando material de construção da via férrea em implantação a partir de Blumenau para o oeste.

A bem da verdade, neste período de implantação da via férrea a locomotiva operou

sempre como n. 3, uma vez que haviam duas outras locomotivas de rodagem 0-6-4T de marca Borsig, fabricadas e recebidas pela ferrovia em 1907, que foram numeradas como 1 e 2, mas que entraram em operação somente ao final de 1908.
