Description
English: Ockham Common heath maintenance These sandy soils are home to many of our threatened heathland species - lizards, snakes, birds and insects. If they are not actively maintained, birch, pine, and rhododendron invade leading to local extinctions. The clearance shown in this photo may look devastated, heather will quickly re-establish.
