English: November 6, 1962 PAKISTAN MEDICAL DIRECTOR VISITS NIH The Special Assistant to the President of Pakistan, Lt. Gen. Wajid Ali Burki (left), chats with Dr. James A. Shannon, Director of NIH (center), and Dr. Theodore E. Woodward, Professor of Medicine, University of Maryland School of Medicine, during his visit here October 22. An ophthalmologist and Director General of Medical Services of the Pakistan Army, Gen. Burki attended a luncheon in his honor in the Executive Dining Room, Building 31, and later conferred with several NIH scientists. In addition to NIH administrators, the luncheon guests included PHS Surgeon General Luther L. Terry, the Surgeons General of the U. S. Army and Air Force, and representatives of the Departments of State, Navy, and Interior, and the Agency for International Development. Photo by Sam Silverman.
