É um monumento de interesse público assim classificado por decreto a 11 de Outubro de 1933. Todo em pedra de Ançã, com cerca de cinco metros de altura, trata-se, segundo o historiador Dr. Jaime Cortesão, de um pelourinho barroco. Quando os pelourinhos se encontravam danificados pelo tempo, eram substituídos. Deverá ter sido o que se passou em Ançã, pois este pelourinho apresenta características setecentistas, tendo sido reconstruído em 1875 ou 1876, a expensas do prior resignatário da vila, Rev.
