The stipe of many mushroom species - apart from Russula and Lactarius - splits into fibres when broken. The picture shows a Suillus variegatus. (2005)

Ein wichtiges Unterscheidungsmerkmal, um Täublinge und Milchlinge von anderen Pilzarten zu unterscheiden, ist der Stiel. Dieser lässt sich bei Täublingen und Milchlingen wie Apfelfleisch brechen. Bei den meisten anderen Arten zerbricht er nur faserig. Das Bild zeigt den Wolligen Milchling (LACTARIUS VELLEREUS (Fr.) Fries), dessen Stiel mit der Hand zerbrochen wurde.(2005)

An important characteristic to distinguish Russula and Lactarius from other types of mushrooms is the consistency of the stipe. In Russula and Lactarius, this breaks like the flesh of an apple, whilst in most other species it only breaks into fibres. The picture shows a Lactarius vellereus of which the stipe was broken by hand. (2005)
