Español: Serie de las Pinturas Negras de Goya, fotografiadas en el año 1874 por J. Laurent (Jean Laurent, o Juan Laurent Minier), en el interior de la antigua casa de la Quinta de Goya, cerca del puente de Segovia, entonces en las afueras de la ciudad de Madrid, España.
Esta pintura se conoce como "Hombres leyendo", o "La lectura". Fue fotografiada en la planta alta de la casa de Goya; probablemente con luz eléctrica, pues Laurent disponía de un equipo portátil para iluminación eléctrica. El negativo de vidrio original es del procedimiento del colodión húmedo. Mide 27 x 36 centímetros, y se conserva en el Archivo Ruiz Vernacci, de la Fototeca del IPCE (Instituto del Patrimonio Cultural de España), del Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deporte, de España. Aunque la fotografía fue tomada en el año 1874, los sucesores de Laurent (Alfonso Roswag y Melina Dosch) añadieron posteriormente (hacia el año 1890) el rótulo que indica "Museo del Prado", cuando las pinturas fueron donadas al museo por el barón de Erlanger, después de ser "arrancadas" de los muros de la casa de Goya, y trasladadas a lienzo por el restaurador Salvador Martínez Cubells (que salvó las Pinturas Negras). Las fotografías de Laurent le sirvieron de certera guía durante el complicado proceso del arranque y traslado. En 1874 esta pintura ya tenía deterioros, como faltas rellenadas con yeso (en la cabeza que mira hacia arriba, en la cual la boca está tapada con yeso). Esa cabeza no fue un añadido del restaurador, como se ha dicho erróneamente. Salvador Martínez Cubells realizó un buen trabajo en el arranque de la pintura del muro, y su traslado a lienzo.English: Photo of mural painting "Men Reading" or "The Reading" (Spanish: La Lectura) or "Politicians" from the series of Black Paintings of Goya.
