Description
English: Photograph of California's first oil-producing well, in Pico Canyon, Newhall, ca.1940. A series of tanks, piping and chimneys is built into a brick structure, with a boiler standing prominent at the rightmost side. Three smokestacks stem from the structure, and three wooden posts stand in the ground several feet to the left in front of it. In the background is an arborous field.
