Summary

Description
English: During May 1864 in the American Civil War, Union General William W. Averell tried to lure his pursuer into mountainous terrain where Averell would have an advantage. Averell's target was Wytheville, Virginia and nearby lead mines. Confederate General John H. Morgan was not fooled and took the shortest route to Wytheville, and his forces stopped Averell north of Wytheville at a mountain pass.
