English: Pseudodiplacodon progressum (Peterson, 1934) - fossil brontothere skeleton from the Eocene of Utah, USA. (CM 11879, Carnegie Museum of Natural History, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA)

Formerly known as Diplacodon progressum.

This is the holotype specimen of Pseudodiplacodon progressum. This species is a brontothere (a.k.a. titanothere), an extinct group of moderately large, rhinoceros-like mammals. Many brontotheres had nasal horns - this feature was sexually dimorphic (present in males, absent in females).

From museum signage: "[Pseudodiplacodon] had two distinctive nasal horns. This huge titanothere was one of the earliest to develop horns, a characteristic shared by later animals of the family."
