[edit]Description | This file is a jpeg image of Kansas City artist NedRa Bonds' Quindaro Quilt. This quilt is composed of eight panels, and illustrates the abolitionist history of the Old Quindaro Townsite in Kansas City, KS. This quilt has appliques of Methodist Minister and freed slave John Stewart as well as various members of the Wyandot tribe. The panels tell a story from left to right-- beginning with John Stewart preaching to the Wyandot people in Ohio and ending in the settlement of Quindaro and the statue of abolitionist, John Brown. In the upper left corner of the quilt, there is appliqued text that states "Old Quindaro History." |
