Description
English: 330-PS-9486 (428-GX-710434) Rear Admiral Ralph K. James Appointed New BUSHIPS guide, 29 April 1959. Rear Admiral Ralph K. James, USN, (left), take sthe oath of office as Chief of the Bureau of Ships (BUSHIPS), in a ceremony held in the Office of the Secretary of the Navy. Rear Admiral James relieved Fear Admiral Albert G. Momma, who is retiring from active naval service. Rear Admiral James won high commendation for supervising the repair of battle damaged ships in Pacific combat zones during World War II. Prior to his new assignment, Admiral James served as assistant Chief of Bureau of Ships for field activities. Shown left to right: Rear Admiral James, Honorable Thomas S. Gates, Jr., Secretary of the Navy and Rear Admiral Chester C. Ward, Judge Advocate General of the U.S. Navy. (10/7/2014).
