Description
A Imperatriz é aqui retratada a meio corpo, trajando um vestido de veludo negro (enviuvara havia pouco e envergaria luto até ao final da vida), com ornamentação de arminho nas mangas. Usa um colar de pérolas, e uma tiara fina também de pérolas. O cabelo dividido em três partes, com coque no alto da cabeça (seguro com um alfinete cónico, igualmente de pérolas) e cachos soltos, lateralmente. Está sentada numa cadeira da qual se vê um segmento do espaldar entalhado, dourado. Tem como cenário um reposteiro vermelho e, à esquerda, uma coluna com a respectiva base. O retrato de D. Amélia de Beauharnais da colecção do Museu Nacional de Soares dos Reis difere de todos os outros pelo facto de a Imperatriz aí ser representada usando uma faixa de tecido azul, verde e branco, cruzada sobre o tronco.
