Description
Français : Photo montrant le ministre des Colonies Paul Reynaud visitant les salines de Djibouti en septembre 1931. Le ministre faisait une brève escale à Djibouti en route pour l'Extrême-Orient. La photo, dont la légende est titrée Contraste noir sur blanc, est parue dans un numéro de L'Illustration de septembre 1931. Aucune protection n'était offerte aux travailleurs indigènes qui travaillaient pieds nus dans les salines sous une chaleur accablante.
English: Photo showing French Minister of Colonies Paul Reynaud visiting the Djibouti saltworks, then the chief employer of the colony along with the harbour. The native saltwork workers worked barefoot in the salt in extreme heat. The legend of the photo published in the French magazine L'Illustration is titled Contraste noir sur blanc (Black on White Contrast).
