Author Bill Baggs was born in Dorset, England in 1889 and arrived in Australia on 12 December 1911 aboard the Orama. He was an orchardist at Wungong (originally spelled Wongong), Armadale in the 1920s and 1930s. He married Vera Burnett in 1929 in Perth and they had a son and daughter and were divorced in 1942. Bill Baggs died in 1973 aged 83 years. Charlotte Balsdon (nee Orchard) and husband Joseph emigrated to Perth from Dorset, England in 1913 and were thought to be friends of Bill Baggs.
