Summary
| Description |
English: Simulated "type B" singular trajectories of a Swinging Atwood's Machine with with mass ratio 3. Here, the swinging mass is ejected from the origin at various angles ranging from 0.1 radians to 3.1 radians. The swinging mass always return to the origin in a symmetric fashion. The orbits shown in red are sometimes referred to as "teardrop"; the orbits in green as "heart"; and the orbits in blue as "rabbit ear". Because the tension in the string of the Swinging Atwood's Machine approaches infinity as the swinging mass approaches the origin, the system can be considered to terminate when it returns to the origin. |
