Description
English:
About a year earlier, before seawall construction began.
Railroad Avenue (now Alaskan Way) and Pier 14 (now Pier 70), Seattle, Washington, ca. 1935. Hamburg-American is now Hapag-Lloyd, but is long gone from the pier. Seawall construction under way. Pier 71 (Union Oil Dock, Pier 18) also visible here, at right. It was demolished as the shore north of Pier 70 was turned into parkland.
