  • Description: Crispus. Caesar, 316-326 AD.
AV Multiple of 1 1/2 Solidi (6.72 gm, 6h). Sirmium mint. Struck 323 AD.
D N CRISPVS NOBILISS CAES, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust left
VICTORIA AVG ET CAESS N N, Victory standing left, holding wreath in right hand and palm in left; below, two mourning captives seated left and right at her feet; SIRM.
RIC VII -; Gnecchi -; Alföldi -; Hunter -; DOC -; Cohen -.

Although this issue was unknown for Crispus, there were similar pieces issued for Constantine I and Constantine II (RIC 35 and 36, respectively). The date of issue, 323 AD, combined with the reverse type and legend, suggest that these were issued to celebrate Constantine's victory over the Goths in that same year.
